Privacy

This site is deliberately plain about data. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, carries no advertising, and loads no third-party tracking scripts. Nothing here builds a profile of you.

The only information Melissa receives is what you choose to send her.

What the site does not collect

• No cookies of any kind, and no consent banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
• No analytics — not Google Analytics, not a "privacy-friendly" alternative, none at all. Visits are not counted or profiled.
• No advertising or marketing pixels, and no social media trackers.
• No device fingerprinting.
• No mailing list. Nothing you send is added to one, and nothing is sold or shared for marketing.

Pages embed a small number of external items — YouTube videos, and links to Spotify, Apple Music and IMDb. Those services apply their own privacy policies if you play or follow them; nothing is sent to them until you do.

The enquiry form

When you submit the enquiry form, your enquiry is passed to the same system that holds the chat, so that Melissa sees it in one place and can reply to you straight away rather than eventually. It is stored and kept exactly as a chat is, described below, and it starts a conversation you can carry on in the panel if you want to add anything.

If that system cannot be reached, the enquiry is emailed to Melissa instead, so that it is never lost. The email is delivered by Resend, an email service acting on her behalf, and includes the time it was sent and your browser's user-agent string, which help sort genuine enquiries from automated spam. An enquiry that arrives that way lives in her mailbox like any other email.

Either way, it is used to answer you and to arrange work, and for nothing else.

The chat panel

The chat is Melissa's own. Your messages go to her and to no one else — there is no chat company in the middle receiving them.

What the chat stores:

• the messages you type;
• which page you started the chat from — the page address only, never the search terms or link that brought you there;
• your name and email, only if you choose to leave them when prompted;
• the times messages were sent.

What it does not store: your IP address, cookies, a device fingerprint, or any advertising or analytics identifier. Your chat is held in your browser tab for the length of your visit and is gone when you close the tab.

Nothing is kept on your device once the tab is closed, so the site cannot recognise you when you come back.

If you give the same email address in more than one chat, those chats are linked to each other. Nothing else links them — not your device, not your browser, not your IP address.

If nobody replies for a while, the panel offers to take your name and email so Melissa can come back to you.

If you have left an email address, her reply is also emailed to you, so that closing the panel does not mean missing the answer. Replies are gathered up and sent together rather than one message at a time. If you have not left an email address, nothing is sent and you will not be asked again for one. Replying to that email reaches her inbox rather than the chat panel.

Where the information is held

Enquiries and chat messages are held in a database on a server Melissa controls, hosted in Europe, and are not shared with any third party. Where an enquiry has been emailed instead, it is held in her mailbox. The site itself is served as static files by Vercel, which keeps short-lived server logs.

How long chat messages are kept

One year after the last activity on your record, your name and contact details are anonymised automatically. They are overwritten and cannot be read afterwards, by anyone, including Melissa. This applies to an enquiry sent through the form in exactly the same way.

The messages themselves are kept, along with any notes Melissa makes about the enquiry. So please bear in mind: if you type your phone number or your name into a message, that text stays, even after the details you gave separately have been anonymised. If you would rather it did not, ask her to remove a conversation and she will.

The year runs from the last activity on the record, not from when it started — so if you come back and carry on, the clock restarts.

An enquiry that had to be emailed instead sits in Melissa's mailbox and is kept as ordinary business correspondence.

Your choices

You can ask what Melissa holds about you, ask for a copy, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Use the enquiry form and say what you would like — there is no special process, and asking costs you nothing.

The chat and the enquiry form now reach the same place and are kept the same way; the form simply asks more questions up front. If you would rather not use either, no part of this site requires you to submit anything at all.
